Ep. 211 "OK Roadtrip" (All about your Host's time in Oklahoma)

I had a blast on my roadtrip and wanted to share some of the highlights of my time in Oklahoma City with Gold Fang Gallery as well as my time in Tulsa with Karma Body Modifications

It was a wonderful guest visit at both studios but so much more happened along the way.

If you're in an industry that can travel, do it! It's very good for both the soul and progressing as a professional (networking). It can be done on a budget and in terms of vacations, I find it's best to combine work and play.

As much as there's much to get back to, now that I'm home, I didn't have to stop life so much that I'm out lots of money and catching up with a life that I would have had to put on pause; All continued and on top of that, I got quality time with my Dad.

God bless you Diary Listeners and biggest thanks to all the souls that made the time in Oklahoma, special. Praise God for this amazing life!

[00:00:06] Hello Diary listeners

[00:00:10] That's a very yummy pickle that I was having

[00:00:15] pardon

[00:00:16] But it kind of feeds into a little bit. I

[00:00:22] Just thought about this as I got a midday snack

[00:00:27] Here on Tuesday welcome. Hello. God bless all that

[00:00:32] We're calling this week's diary entry

[00:00:36] Oklahoma or okay road trip and

[00:00:40] I don't know if y'all are aware, but I've been away for the past two weeks in Oklahoma

[00:00:47] and the reason my pickles are kind of a

[00:00:50] part of all of this is that I had the fortune of

[00:00:54] Learning how to play pickleball from my dad

[00:00:58] Who was my traveling companion?

[00:01:02] Welcome to the apprenticeship diaries where raw meats were fine. Let's be real. We're still working on

[00:01:08] What it took what it takes and the stories that are made join us as we learn from professionals about how their stories begin

[00:01:15] so this week I'm going to attempt to tell you

[00:01:30] About my trip and hopefully I don't leave out anything pertinent, but you know

[00:01:36] I'm sure some of it you had to be there to

[00:01:38] Do

[00:01:39] You know to get the beauty of but I think it was a pretty cool time. I

[00:01:44] Think I first want to start out by saying that

[00:01:48] I'm kind of I'm kind of mad at myself that I

[00:01:53] I

[00:01:56] Was kind of irritated that my dad was wanting to come along

[00:02:02] Mostly because I kind of had it in my mind that I was going to do this trip solo

[00:02:09] There's a good friend of the podcast and she's actually has a dire entry Nicole Dorae and

[00:02:16] Nicole

[00:02:17] did a solo road trip

[00:02:20] for a long time and it was

[00:02:22] very very aggressive and its timelines and

[00:02:26] And she did it and and I kind of like I like the idea of it

[00:02:32] um

[00:02:34] Rico had said that he wasn't gonna want to do it and

[00:02:39] I of course, that's not holding me back. I don't want to go so

[00:02:45] When we went to Paradise this last year

[00:02:49] I met I met the people at karma body modifications and I had known Renee at Goldfang Gallery

[00:02:58] I'd heard good things about Goldfang Gallery too from Nicole Dorae who also stopped there in her tour across America and

[00:03:07] I don't know. It just seemed really fun to me and I

[00:03:12] Was pretty determined to go by myself like I said Rico isn't really keen on long road trips. He's a big human

[00:03:20] It's not really a thing even though I think he would have enjoyed himself and it wouldn't have been that bad

[00:03:26] But you know he didn't want to go and he was again very like oh you should

[00:03:32] You should maybe fly or you shouldn't go by yourself and a big thing that everybody was like well

[00:03:38] You should get your you should get your carry license

[00:03:41] So as I've already done a podcast about I I took my Marilyn Carey and my Utah Carey

[00:03:50] classes so that I could

[00:03:52] apply for my permit

[00:03:54] while I was gone my Utah came so that didn't that didn't come in time for me to

[00:04:02] You know Carey and

[00:04:04] My Marilyn one still hasn't hasn't come around though. I hope I will be

[00:04:09] Permitted soon and be able to get my HQL and all of that good stuff

[00:04:14] but I wasn't able to attain any of those things in time and

[00:04:19] When my parents learned that I was going by myself they were

[00:04:23] Not too thrilled my mom really didn't want me to go by myself

[00:04:28] She's I mean this has been as old as time with me and my my my family

[00:04:34] very protective

[00:04:36] you know as

[00:04:39] As anybody could hope

[00:04:41] Their family to be and it's just it's a matter of seeing it in the right perspective. I always saw it as

[00:04:50] controlling and

[00:04:51] Just really

[00:04:53] Minimizing the the time that I would have

[00:04:58] My my mom has always been someone that's like well when you go to this person's house, you know

[00:05:04] Make sure that you call me when you get there. You call me when you're leaving

[00:05:08] You know like it was just like I had to check in all the time and it

[00:05:15] you know I

[00:05:18] Kind of resented it because for me it was always like dude like

[00:05:23] What like I kind of took it personally because like why don't you

[00:05:28] Why don't you trust me? Why don't you trust these other people that I'm going to see?

[00:05:35] You know if if you have the information to

[00:05:39] Contact this person that I'm going to see

[00:05:42] You know if something goes wrong then you can you can call and figure it out, but you know, I'm not a parent

[00:05:48] I was a kid at that point and I you know, I I guess the resentment is

[00:05:54] Understandable and I had no idea how to see it

[00:05:58] later on in life now though I

[00:06:02] Do see it as caring and kind and

[00:06:07] Just you know loving me

[00:06:10] Beyond reason and wanting to make sure that you know everything's okay

[00:06:14] not to mention

[00:06:16] You know what I when I?

[00:06:18] pulled back away from you know my own selfish

[00:06:23] once I

[00:06:26] Thought to myself, you know

[00:06:28] none of us are getting any younger and

[00:06:31] Again, there's there's lots of people that I know that don't have

[00:06:35] The benefit of their parents anymore

[00:06:38] Let alone, you know like they're missing a parent, you know not missing but like their parent has passed away and

[00:06:46] Or they they've lost both so

[00:06:49] It was something where I was like come on now. You've

[00:06:53] Always enjoyed your father, you know just

[00:06:57] You know embrace this

[00:06:59] You know anything can happen at any point

[00:07:02] Not only on this trip, but after you know

[00:07:05] This is gonna be an ability to make a memory and to do something really cool and

[00:07:12] Also, you know, there's there's some

[00:07:16] There's been a want of me ever since COVID to

[00:07:21] Stay close to home. I don't I mean I do know what that's about I

[00:07:27] I

[00:07:29] Realized how blessed I am in the family that I have

[00:07:33] And I was shown how much my pain my my family was there for me

[00:07:40] When I needed them to be and just how wonderful and glorious that was and

[00:07:46] There's just this huge

[00:07:48] Calling for me to stay close

[00:07:52] To lean into my family and

[00:07:55] I really

[00:07:59] Feel like that's the case and actually

[00:08:02] Just the other day I was already back, but I heard about this

[00:08:08] Movie that's coming out unsung hero

[00:08:10] That's all about basically what I'm talking about. I want to go see it now, but one of my

[00:08:17] Podcasts listens that is regular as the Michael Noel show and he was interviewing

[00:08:22] The creators of the film and

[00:08:25] It was about their family and about what had happened to their family and so it's a

[00:08:32] Telling of this story and and basically it was

[00:08:38] You know, like your family isn't getting in the way your family is the way is a big thing

[00:08:44] and it kind of chronicles the

[00:08:48] The quote the mother Teresa has that it's you know

[00:08:51] Don't if you're trying to change the world. I'm gonna butcher this. I'm sure but you're trying to change the world

[00:08:59] go home and

[00:09:01] raise your family and

[00:09:04] Do a good job raising your family and

[00:09:08] You know, it's taken me a long time to mature folks

[00:09:12] I mean, I hope if you've been listening to this for any kind of time that you understand that

[00:09:19] This is a this is a diary of

[00:09:23] Learning and growing and it's not only me personally, but the people that I've interviewed and it's a moving it's a moving thing and

[00:09:34] So

[00:09:36] That's what's been kind of on my heart lately and it has been ever since 2020

[00:09:41] just to stay with my family and to be

[00:09:46] more

[00:09:48] involved with them and you know, I

[00:09:53] Been growing spiritually and then also wanting to combine things with my family

[00:09:58] I've also, you know in truth as much as I love tattooing and I don't think I'll ever stop it. I think I'll just

[00:10:07] It's gonna be more isolated and it's gonna be

[00:10:12] Very special

[00:10:14] Whatever I transform it into now it has to be because

[00:10:20] You know, I've been doing it for 16 years and I

[00:10:26] Feel the need to

[00:10:29] Really ground myself and what that is it's become very sacred for me

[00:10:32] And it's something that I very much so want to

[00:10:38] Do but do in a way that not only

[00:10:42] It's beyond service. It's like I said sacred and I don't really know where it's moving next

[00:10:48] I don't really know what it's all gonna amount to

[00:10:54] But there's a there's a thing in me that wants to diversify, you know, this podcast is an expression of that

[00:11:03] My want to learn how to do calligraphy better, which you know, I've kind of dropped but I've started again

[00:11:09] I'm really excited about starting that again

[00:11:12] I want to do a series on the book of Revelation. I think that would be metal and awesome and

[00:11:21] very cool and a way to

[00:11:23] Glorify God with my talent that would be amazing

[00:11:28] But as you guys have seen too, there's a wanting me to carve wood and to be in a wood shop

[00:11:33] so my dad has a lot of woodworking equipment and

[00:11:38] You know, we've been discussing what next steps are for the building that I actually have my studio in

[00:11:46] and

[00:11:47] It seems like it might be coming together where my dad and I are

[00:11:52] Kind of in the same. It's kind of weird because he's gonna be 70 this year

[00:11:57] I'm gonna be 43

[00:11:59] But we're kind of in the same like

[00:12:02] Mind-frame business wise where we we kind of want to continue doing what we're doing with the very small clients

[00:12:08] How that we have maybe a few extra people here and there but nothing extravagant just keep active in that way as much as we can

[00:12:16] but we'd really like to

[00:12:19] Do something with wood and

[00:12:22] That's pretty cool

[00:12:23] So it gave me

[00:12:25] To put a pin in that for a second

[00:12:27] It gave me the opportunity to discuss all these things with my dad up and and along with that

[00:12:32] Many other things many other philosophies are long drive. It was I'd say if you rounded it about 18 hours

[00:12:40] Both ways, you know like going and back

[00:12:44] give or take so

[00:12:46] It gave us, you know, two full days of driving to discuss things

[00:12:52] My dad is really

[00:12:55] great to work with because

[00:12:58] He's a great teacher

[00:13:00] He has a diary entry on here

[00:13:03] That illustrates him being my first mentor in a lot of ways he

[00:13:09] He taught me a lot about what I know about hair, but also everything. I know how to ride a bike

[00:13:15] How to shoot a gun?

[00:13:17] Sorry, that was my my phone. I should silence it forgive me listeners

[00:13:23] Again

[00:13:24] Sorry about that. I have put my phone in silent mode and it will not do that anymore

[00:13:29] It's my blink camera

[00:13:32] Service every time the wind blows it seems like that the camera catches something

[00:13:39] but

[00:13:41] Yeah, I

[00:13:43] I've always really learned

[00:13:46] well from my father he's

[00:13:50] Just very calm

[00:13:53] Very good at explaining things breaking things down. It's pretty awesome and

[00:14:01] Yeah, so we traveled I went to Goldfang Gallery first

[00:14:08] We I managed to get an Airbnb that was super close

[00:14:14] To the studio it's it's in an apartment complex that was like

[00:14:19] I'd say like two blocks away, so I could have walked there. I didn't I drove every day, but I

[00:14:25] Could have very easily walked there the Airbnb that I was at was at the

[00:14:30] What were they called?

[00:14:32] It was in the arts artistic district. It was very cool. They were called the I think aviar

[00:14:41] apartments I

[00:14:43] Could be wrong, but they were really good

[00:14:46] and my host Ben

[00:14:48] Was awesome

[00:14:50] the

[00:14:52] The entire stay was great. We had a little each place that we stayed at had a little bit of an

[00:14:58] issue but it's like if

[00:15:00] You know, if you've ever rented a place or run a business or anything like that which

[00:15:06] Airbnb rentals are

[00:15:08] They're both they're renting a place and a business for somebody, you know stuff happens and you just I

[00:15:15] I

[00:15:17] You know we my family we rent a property and we understand how things happen. I think it was last year my parents had to redo I

[00:15:26] Think it was the entire like well, they had to get a whole other well

[00:15:31] redrilled

[00:15:32] So I mean that was like ginormous and like the entire

[00:15:37] The entire property was dug up. It was crazy, but

[00:15:41] You know stuff like that

[00:15:43] So we had little hiccups in both places but nothing nothing to write home about

[00:15:49] And I I wanted to point that out not not to highlight the things that happen, but to encourage

[00:15:57] All of you that if you are

[00:16:00] traveling to a place and you're using somebody else's rental property

[00:16:08] Communicate with them. That's kind of the beauty of Airbnb and those kind of things

[00:16:13] you have a direct person that you can

[00:16:15] talk with and

[00:16:17] In my experience, they are very accommodating and they tackle issues very quickly

[00:16:24] in both cases

[00:16:27] everybody was super lovely and worked with us and

[00:16:31] We were able to manage despite the

[00:16:34] You know the hiccups that happened within the properties. So what I can tell anybody is that if you're traveling

[00:16:41] You want to make sure that you don't burn bridges where you go and that you keep in mind that we're all trying to do stuff here

[00:16:50] And we're all trying to live and live together and it's best to

[00:16:54] Be kind within those things and be considerate

[00:16:58] Don't

[00:16:59] don't

[00:17:00] seek to end people's careers just over things that

[00:17:04] That just happen

[00:17:06] It's not wise

[00:17:08] I've been on Airbnb now for seven years. I've traveled many times and stayed in Airbnb's and

[00:17:15] You know keep in mind they can review you just as much as you can review them. So

[00:17:22] that's kind of I think a cool feature of Airbnb is that

[00:17:28] you know

[00:17:30] everybody

[00:17:34] Everybody is held accountable and

[00:17:38] You know, I think that I hope that isn't coming through

[00:17:43] That sound

[00:17:45] It's just I

[00:17:48] Can't win for losing folks. I there's text messaging dingy in the background. I

[00:17:54] That's the other thing. Everybody and their mother has hit me up

[00:17:59] since I've been away

[00:18:01] Since you know like I've gotten and it's it's all over the place. It's not just been for tattoos

[00:18:07] It's been for everything. I've had several cancellations. I have had

[00:18:13] An offer to work at a studio

[00:18:17] Which I'm exploring

[00:18:19] I've had somebody asking me to do faux painting in their bedroom

[00:18:25] What else I had

[00:18:28] It's just it's endless I had I had to handle financial stuff

[00:18:34] along the way

[00:18:38] Like putting my all my retirement money in one place

[00:18:41] So I had to move stuff around like there's just been a handful of crap

[00:18:46] Going on in the background of even just this trip. So

[00:18:50] Please understand it's not

[00:18:53] You know, it's it's not easy to do any of these things but it is worth it

[00:18:59] if ever you think that you are not

[00:19:03] Capable of traveling as a tattoo artist. I'm here to tell you are if I can do it, you can do it

[00:19:11] I I don't like I don't like planning many things and

[00:19:17] What the hell is like oh

[00:19:23] this I

[00:19:25] Don't even know if you guys can hear this or not, but it's a it's a phone call that's coming through

[00:19:30] Sorry about those listeners. It's a phone phone call. That's apparently coming through

[00:19:35] my computer and

[00:19:37] It was a scam likely but I could hear it

[00:19:41] Hey back on track. So like everybody everybody has been hitting me up. It's been nuts and

[00:19:48] I

[00:19:50] just

[00:19:52] It's just it's just one thing on top of another

[00:19:56] I guess to go back a little bit, but our air bnb's were great

[00:20:03] Golfing gallery was stunning. I hope to share some of the pictures that I took there

[00:20:09] The crew is amazing. I can't say enough great things

[00:20:15] The setup for guest artists is

[00:20:19] beautiful Renee does such a great job Renee little of

[00:20:23] creating a space just in general but also a

[00:20:27] A guest artist space. It's lovely. She also

[00:20:32] You know does a lot to provide equipment for you to

[00:20:38] Try out that's more eco-friendly

[00:20:41] Just the whole thing is wonderful. Her staff is just so cool

[00:20:49] Her staff is top notch

[00:20:52] all of them Chase

[00:20:54] Corey both of you were just

[00:20:59] It's super awesome to meet and to talk with and to

[00:21:04] Work with every single person that tattoos there. I'm just blown away by the talent and

[00:21:11] How fun you all are and how kind you all are

[00:21:14] It was really great

[00:21:16] My roommate to my room Jacob was great meeting a man. It was nice to share a space with you

[00:21:24] Just everything was wonderful. I ended up having a walk-in

[00:21:28] come and

[00:21:30] get tattooed by me. She had me put a

[00:21:34] Magnolia flower next to a rose

[00:21:37] that Renee had done so that was such an honor to be right next to Renee

[00:21:44] and to grow

[00:21:46] a garden that that you know had had a purpose and many flowers that will be added on but it was so nice to

[00:21:53] get that as a

[00:21:55] As a walk-in so that was super super super super super super awesome

[00:22:03] You know her name was

[00:22:06] Alex, you know Alex I really appreciate you know you let me work on your girl and

[00:22:12] To be next to Renee's work is just super amazing

[00:22:17] And then there was a flash day which I love how they organized that

[00:22:22] I have to admit I haven't been a part of many flash days

[00:22:26] But that was super refreshing Corey's partner

[00:22:30] Let me Caleb let me tattoo him

[00:22:34] I

[00:22:36] Got to meet this really awesome jewelry maker and I tattooed a little

[00:22:43] I

[00:22:44] Don't know what you call them but like a bone dude from Super Mario. It's just his face and

[00:22:51] He was he was such a sweet sweet person

[00:22:55] you know, I really had a great time with both of them and

[00:22:59] Doing such simple tattoos that are honestly very challenging within their simplicity

[00:23:04] That was really cool to diversify my talent that way

[00:23:08] My scheduled client Jessica who came and she was having me fill in some spaces in between

[00:23:15] Really beautiful design work on her arm this black and gray design work

[00:23:19] And I just felt honored to add to those those spaces

[00:23:24] We actually didn't end up doing the initial flower that we thought

[00:23:29] We will be I want to go back to Oklahoma City and

[00:23:34] work on her further, but you know

[00:23:38] For four hours is four and a half hours four hours. I forget which one it was we worked

[00:23:44] but that's a lot of time folks and it's um

[00:23:49] You know

[00:23:50] It's not really

[00:23:53] It's not really easy to get through

[00:23:56] she did really well and

[00:23:58] But four hours about time that I'm like, I'm good

[00:24:01] I got tattooed today and I am I have enough to heal and I don't want to do anymore

[00:24:07] so

[00:24:08] Jessica we put

[00:24:10] some beautiful

[00:24:12] Primrose on her because as I was driving to Oklahoma, I was seeing all these beautiful like pink flowers on the ground

[00:24:19] I was like, I wonder what that is. It's primrose. They they

[00:24:24] They grow wild in Oklahoma, but they were growing all the way up to Oklahoma, Tennessee

[00:24:31] Alabama all of them was it out? No, not Alabama Arkansas

[00:24:36] Tennessee, Arkansas, you know, Oklahoma, they were all on the road and it was so pretty like

[00:24:42] I highly recommend a road trip, you know at the end of April

[00:24:47] mid-April I guess beginning of May and just the the flowers are stunning. They're just stunning. I

[00:24:54] will say Oklahoma's a little a little scary as far as the weather is concerned because there was a couple times that

[00:25:04] The tornado

[00:25:06] Bells or sirens were going off apparently every Saturday in Oklahoma City at noon they test the

[00:25:16] The sirens and it's a different it's a different sound if there actually is a tornado coming

[00:25:23] So that was interesting to learn too, but every

[00:25:26] Every Saturday at noon they test they test the sirens

[00:25:30] We didn't have any tornadoes actually in Oklahoma City though

[00:25:34] When my dad tried to play pickleball because that was his mission to play pickleball wherever he could

[00:25:40] Which I thought was awesome, you know, I think it's awesome that my dad's so active

[00:25:45] If you see when you see the pictures of my father, you'd never guessed that he was 70. He's incredible

[00:25:51] When we played pickleball together, he kind of like wiped the floor with me. He's always he's always been

[00:25:57] amazingly athletic

[00:26:00] You know, he he doesn't see it that way because he's always competed with

[00:26:05] I think people who are elite in their in their class, but

[00:26:10] He's always put himself in a line with that and stayed just so active. So in his later years

[00:26:16] He's he's just incredible. He's he's really really fit and I

[00:26:21] Mean I can't say enough about it, but

[00:26:24] And what he found is when he would try to go to some free courts outside at parks

[00:26:31] It's so windy in Oklahoma and it's like the song, you know

[00:26:35] You it's so windy

[00:26:36] You can't play things like pickleball because you have this wiffle ball and it just takes the ball

[00:26:41] So, you know, he he was like I'm gonna have to find a place inside

[00:26:46] so

[00:26:48] One of the things and probably the only things that I can speak of as far as entertainment in

[00:26:55] Oklahoma that I got to experience that I definitely recommend is

[00:27:01] Chicken and pickle or chicken and pickles, which is a whole facility

[00:27:09] It's got everything. It's got pickleball and it's got food. It's got a bar

[00:27:13] It's got this outdoor like play area where of course you can play pickleball, but they also have like large wooden versions of like

[00:27:25] Battleship and Jenga and like

[00:27:30] Checkers there was it was just a playful area and it was super cool and

[00:27:35] Super inexpensive too. Like if you want to experience pickleball

[00:27:39] It was it was great because it was only like I think five bucks to get to rent a paddle and

[00:27:47] Get a ball and then you can take the ball with you. So now we have a pickleball

[00:27:51] that's kind of like our souvenir from from Oklahoma City and chicken and pickle and

[00:27:58] Open play is like in the morning. I think until I think it was like until 10 and

[00:28:04] you can

[00:28:06] they they just have a rotation of people and

[00:28:09] There's some really elite people playing pickleball there, man. Like

[00:28:14] The games got really really intense and really really cool. These people are really good

[00:28:19] So I watched a lot of it

[00:28:21] My dad's explaining to me the game and then we reserved a court on

[00:28:27] Sunday, which was my my free day when I wasn't working and I got a chance to play and then we would be played with this couple

[00:28:36] Hope I can remember their names. I can't

[00:28:39] it was

[00:28:41] Heath I remember is the man's name and then

[00:28:46] Shoot his wife was so cute and her and I were on the same like level we were we were pretty bad

[00:28:52] and they had reserved the court after us and

[00:28:56] They let us let us play with them and my dad really instructed all of us at that point

[00:29:02] Which was really cool because he was able to

[00:29:04] You know teach everybody and we were able to actually have you know a four

[00:29:09] Four-person full court game

[00:29:11] so it's really fun and

[00:29:14] The hardest part is keeping score

[00:29:17] But um, it's it's not that hard once you get going and and it's it's pretty fun

[00:29:23] So I highly recommend pickleball if you don't consider yourself athletic

[00:29:28] We're talented in that way. I

[00:29:31] Would say you should try pickleball because

[00:29:34] It's it's it's something that all people can do to some level, you know

[00:29:39] So definitely and try pickleball. I'd say in Oklahoma City. That's a gem. It wasn't that far outside of the city proper

[00:29:48] Super fun. We also ate at a couple really great places

[00:29:54] Oh

[00:29:55] Man Renee took us out. There's just all kinds of food around that's really good

[00:30:02] Let's see. Let's see

[00:30:04] Lots of food we bought boots at both Cavenders and the boot barn my mom wanted a pair of

[00:30:12] Cowboy boots and that inspired me to get some too

[00:30:16] So I'm actually wearing right now my I got two pairs

[00:30:20] I got an actual like cowboy boots and then I got these like workbook work boots that have tread on them

[00:30:25] And that's the one thing that I I didn't like about the boots that I had already that were from fry

[00:30:33] They're very slick. They don't grab and so I've aided a couple times

[00:30:39] And especially on guest spots or traveling to other man, I fell really hard when I was in

[00:30:46] When I was in Portland when we were kind of walking around and stuff

[00:30:51] We were in a city and man, I just it was raining and

[00:30:55] Slick and I just fell on my ass. I also went hiking in them. I didn't realize we were gonna go hiking

[00:31:04] I mean it was low-key hiking, but it was like muddy and I and I fell again

[00:31:10] It was one thing after another but whatever, you know the mud

[00:31:16] Mudd

[00:31:17] Comes off and

[00:31:19] Bruises go away. I didn't I didn't really get must up too much

[00:31:23] But there's their slick, you know the bottom of boots like cowboy boots and stuff like that

[00:31:28] They're they're very slick and they don't have much grab to them

[00:31:31] So they're great for dancing and it kind of inspires me to want to check out some line dancing and

[00:31:38] You know see that scene out because now I got my boots

[00:31:42] New boot goofing

[00:31:44] What else what else

[00:31:46] I

[00:31:47] I met Dave

[00:31:50] I forget his last name, but apparently it's not

[00:31:53] It's a it sounds more ethnic

[00:31:57] Then then he looks but he was a character. He he's a big fan of Jesus and

[00:32:05] And he also loves skateboarding and just just such a character

[00:32:10] He was opposite me where I was staying and you know where I was working in Goldfang his booth

[00:32:15] And I got to see him receive from London another artist this really cool old Bible

[00:32:23] I mean it was kind of envious about

[00:32:25] This Bible he got to he got to have that London gave him and London was

[00:32:31] covering up

[00:32:33] like a small cross on

[00:32:35] his temple

[00:32:37] That on Dave's temple that he was replacing it with three three nails which has the same

[00:32:46] Concentrations it and it really honestly it fit better

[00:32:50] Then the cross did it. It was definitely an upgrade to

[00:32:54] The cross Dave was hilarious though

[00:32:56] He was always trying to get everybody to get their face of their head tattooed

[00:33:01] Real character made made my heart happy and Chuck. I mean everybody did there

[00:33:07] but

[00:33:09] Here's a trip and I was so happy that I got to experience him

[00:33:14] receiving this Bible

[00:33:16] getting this cover up and we we took a little bit of a video session

[00:33:22] Where recorded him getting tattooed while, you know like clutching the Bible

[00:33:27] And it was only because I was looking at him and he was kind of hugging himself

[00:33:31] And I was like man

[00:33:32] It looks like you need like a stuffed animal or something to hug or a pillow

[00:33:35] He was like no, I'm fine and London was like whoa. You should get your Bible. You should hug your Bible and

[00:33:43] This is what honestly guys I love being in a private studio

[00:33:48] Because it's a lot about my clients, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the banter and the

[00:33:55] experience of being around other artists and

[00:33:59] just the fun that you can have around other creatives who

[00:34:05] You know, we'll just do the most. I mean it's it's spontaneous. It's in the moment. It's playful. It's

[00:34:14] It's like magical almost it's like in that that vein of I don't know

[00:34:20] The here and now that's just so beautiful and it's just spontaneous the whimsy is

[00:34:27] Is there and it's it's really cool

[00:34:30] and so I

[00:34:33] You know lots of moments like that I got I got to hang out with Renee. She was actually she had to leave early

[00:34:41] Earlier than my guest spot

[00:34:44] Actually ended with she had to go to a tattoo convention of her own in Colorado

[00:34:49] Which is really cool. So she you know, she had to leave the studio and and pack up and

[00:34:58] It's just it's so cool to watch somebody

[00:35:02] Create such a space if if ever you talk to Renee little

[00:35:07] Ask her about her space gold thing and

[00:35:11] What it looked like prior. It was this abandoned warehouse space that I

[00:35:17] Mean it looked like a post-apocalyptic nightmare and what she has made this place into is just

[00:35:26] unreal

[00:35:27] it's unreal and

[00:35:30] Almost everything in it has her hand her touch

[00:35:34] Like nothing matches, but it all does

[00:35:38] There's just beautiful hints of gold everywhere like the name gold fang. I love her t-shirts

[00:35:45] I bought a couple of those I bought her tattoo ointment because if nothing else

[00:35:51] I want to I want to use it on me for future tattoos, which I hope to get and

[00:35:57] And

[00:35:58] yeah, I

[00:36:01] Thoroughly loved everything about my experience there and I want to go back. I'd like to go back sooner than later

[00:36:08] I don't know if it's gonna happen. I mean

[00:36:10] now that I'm home and kind of

[00:36:13] Kind of settling back from from the whole trip. It was a lot

[00:36:18] But it was also so accessible too guys like

[00:36:22] It's it's so easy to get in a car man and like just drive

[00:36:27] I mean really to get there. It was like a straight shot almost

[00:36:32] I only had to turn a few times off of 70 and then it was like

[00:36:36] I think it was like 340 and then it was on 81 and then 81 turned into 40 and it was just straight

[00:36:42] Like straight the whole time straight through Tennessee, which I love Tennessee

[00:36:47] I'm super sad that my friend Carol LaBaron been on the podcast

[00:36:52] She was actually sick and recovering. I would have liked to have

[00:36:59] Tried to get a hold of her but now that I know that Tennessee is not that bad

[00:37:04] It's like it's not even it's like a 10-hour drive

[00:37:10] But I don't think it's even that much to get to Carol because on the edge of Tennessee her her area

[00:37:17] Now that I know that it's that accessible. I really really really want to go to Tennessee

[00:37:23] honestly what I was thinking

[00:37:25] after all of this was that I

[00:37:28] would maybe

[00:37:30] the next guest spot

[00:37:32] aim to work in Tennessee

[00:37:37] Have a couple days that I visit with Carol LaBaron and

[00:37:40] then have a guest spot somewhere in Nashville because I really want to check out Nashville and

[00:37:46] then

[00:37:47] cruise through Arkansas at the end of that

[00:37:51] spend just fun time in

[00:37:54] Oklahoma because I really want to hang out with the people that I was there with we

[00:38:01] Chase was talking about doing some

[00:38:06] Waterboard kayak action in the summertime that sounds amazing

[00:38:11] Um, just stuff to look forward to every day everybody there was so fun

[00:38:16] I'd love to relax with them more and really have a great time

[00:38:20] I

[00:38:23] You know, I haven't even spoken about karma, but that was another

[00:38:27] amazing time too, and I'd love to just have some

[00:38:31] either off time or

[00:38:34] Hangout time with the people there

[00:38:37] Of course, that wasn't really I mean it was a part of what I experienced when I went there

[00:38:42] But you know, I had to work in between so you know, everybody had to work in between

[00:38:46] but you know, I think if I scheduled some fun time maybe a couple art days

[00:38:52] with just the folks that I worked with this past time and then

[00:38:57] fun only in

[00:38:59] Oklahoma

[00:39:01] Pickleball too like I want more pickleball. That's awesome

[00:39:04] And then fun only in Oklahoma and then on the way back

[00:39:09] schedule

[00:39:11] guest spot in Missouri and

[00:39:13] Then I'm thinking Indiana as well. I actually ran into a lady

[00:39:19] I'm jumping past karma. I'll get back to that

[00:39:22] I met a lady at the super eight that we stayed at

[00:39:27] Tiffany she was lovely. She told me about her tattoo artist his name's baby cakes

[00:39:32] His name is Daniel and he's funny as shit man. Like I

[00:39:38] Like I really want to meet this guy. He just he's hilarious and he does really great like tattoo ads. He's

[00:39:46] He's pretty funny and I just I kind of I kind of dig him and I love I

[00:39:52] love just the

[00:39:54] That you know the the special happening of

[00:39:58] Meeting this woman at the super eight when we checked in late at night

[00:40:02] And she was getting off of her shift and my dad told her about me being a tattoo artist and she really

[00:40:09] She really was excited about it. So maybe work in Indiana

[00:40:12] Hang out with Tiffany

[00:40:15] You know, maybe meet Daniel that'd be fun. I don't know he might not want to meet me. Who knows?

[00:40:20] and then

[00:40:23] I'm not sure like either come back from there or do a spot in Ohio too because Ohio is on the way. There's a red tree

[00:40:31] There's lots of possibilities

[00:40:34] And I would every time I do these trips like you know in

[00:40:40] 2000

[00:40:42] For the year but when I went to Omaha, they were like you just came here man

[00:40:47] You should you should do more of a tour next time and of course it didn't I

[00:40:52] I

[00:40:53] Just came to Oklahoma afterwards and they were like you're just coming to Oklahoma. You're not going anywhere else. I'm like no

[00:41:00] a large largely because

[00:41:04] Rico didn't come and

[00:41:06] I didn't want to take my family out of the mix too long. I

[00:41:11] could see

[00:41:13] Doing this trip and doing a tour if I got another tattoo artist involved. I have several lady tattoo artists that

[00:41:21] Maybe it might have to come down to

[00:41:24] the fall or something like that

[00:41:26] maybe I can convince them to

[00:41:29] you know

[00:41:31] Take a road trip with me out to all these places and do this tour with me and both of us guest spot and

[00:41:38] really, you know travel with a

[00:41:40] Another tattoo artist and that that would be fun and fruitful

[00:41:44] And I do have a couple a couple folks that I would ask to see if they would be interested in doing that

[00:41:50] But yeah, like

[00:41:53] That's the biggest reason is that if Rico is not gonna come I

[00:41:57] really can't take that long away from home and

[00:42:00] a week honestly is

[00:42:03] Kind of too short it. I mean it's enough to like work at a place and have a good time and kind of feel it out

[00:42:10] It's a good maiden voyage kind of thing but

[00:42:13] Everything went by way too fast and there just didn't feel like enough time

[00:42:18] I just love these places so much and the people so on that note karma

[00:42:25] Karma I met Rick and his crew which you know, he doesn't have the same crew anymore. Now. It's just his family

[00:42:33] mostly because I think that he's really trying to

[00:42:39] Elevate the seriousness of his place and I could tell that he really wants

[00:42:46] For the people there to understand why they're there and to come ready to work ready to do a good job

[00:42:54] Have the utmost respect he's been in the industry for 30 years

[00:42:59] My big hope is to have both him and Renee on the podcast and I get dire entries from both of them

[00:43:06] About their beginnings

[00:43:08] Both are kind of trepidatious about it

[00:43:11] they both kind of

[00:43:14] You can tell that they've been through a lot you can tell that it's been a mixed bag

[00:43:20] That much time in the game will produce quite a fettered

[00:43:26] experience and it also kind of makes you a little leery because

[00:43:31] you don't want to start drama and

[00:43:36] You know, it was a big thought of mine

[00:43:38] When I created this podcast was that I didn't really want to start any drama either

[00:43:45] That's why I felt like personal stories were the best way to go because

[00:43:52] I mean, you really can't take away from a personal story. I mean you can

[00:43:59] I mean I listen to a lot of commentators and

[00:44:02] you know

[00:44:04] Sometimes, you know, you love to hate them, but that's kind of what they know

[00:44:09] I mean, there's not a single thing that they can say that

[00:44:12] isn't without its critique and they kind of know about that and

[00:44:17] It's just hard when when you're saying things or you're telling about something to

[00:44:26] Walk

[00:44:28] cautiously and speak very very

[00:44:32] Graciously all the time, especially when some some shits happen to you and

[00:44:39] You know, I hope when people listen to the podcast, they know they're getting

[00:44:45] They're getting a moment in time

[00:44:47] They're getting that person's perspective at that time and it is just that it's that person's perspective

[00:44:55] And it's what they have to give in that moment

[00:44:58] We all evolve we all grow

[00:45:01] I hope that's also known about this is that this is a diary

[00:45:05] It's not just mine. It's not just the people who's been on it

[00:45:10] It's a moving thing. It's something that is supposed to show progress

[00:45:16] and

[00:45:18] Give all of you who listen the understanding that we're all in this

[00:45:23] We're all doing a thing and we're all

[00:45:26] We're all growing and seeking and striving and struggling and all of that and it's not easy. It really isn't

[00:45:35] so it was a bit interesting going into karma because when I met Rick and his crew, you know

[00:45:42] It was in paradise and I met a bunch of his crew

[00:45:45] I even hung out with some of his crew

[00:45:48] After you know after hours and caught up with everybody and said hi just for a moment

[00:45:56] Because in in tattooing man that stuff can happen so fast, you know like paradigm shift so quickly and

[00:46:06] At the end of the day, it's just business

[00:46:09] It's hard because I mean you guys have heard me after I was let go at Tattooed Heart

[00:46:18] It's hard to have boundaries everyone because you're intimately with these

[00:46:22] these co-workers you're doing something that

[00:46:26] You know, it's art. It doesn't it the whole the whole

[00:46:29] premise with art is to go beyond boundaries or to test boundaries and you're kind of like a

[00:46:35] pseudo visual

[00:46:37] scientist in a lot of ways or

[00:46:39] You know, you're healing yourself. So you got to kind of go deep and you experience people

[00:46:46] At levels that not a lot of people get to experience or witness and it's hard not to

[00:46:54] You know

[00:46:57] really go beyond a

[00:46:59] Normal business attitude with people and quite frankly, I don't I

[00:47:04] Don't really have that about me the corporate environment

[00:47:08] I don't even understand why people enjoy it. I guess they they like the boundaries

[00:47:13] They like that just leave it all in one place and go home or you know, not take it too seriously

[00:47:21] Excuse me

[00:47:23] Excuse me listeners

[00:47:26] I don't I

[00:47:28] Like to give it all in each place. I don't have I

[00:47:33] Mean I struggle with boundaries. I grew up in a family business and I worked for my father

[00:47:39] first and

[00:47:42] You know, it's hard to maintain boundaries when

[00:47:45] you know, you go to work and then

[00:47:48] You're with your family and then you come off of work and you're not with your family

[00:47:53] but the conversation about work still continues because

[00:47:57] It's all about the family in the end. It's all about giving back to this core home base

[00:48:03] And even if it isn't your family that you're working with

[00:48:06] You know, you understand people

[00:48:09] You got to understand that they're all going back to their families too and they all got to do what's right for them

[00:48:14] You know

[00:48:17] Well pardon listeners, I had to I had to take a bathroom break it was that's the other thing man like go on a road trips

[00:48:25] you find out

[00:48:27] find out a lot about your

[00:48:30] Ability to hold liquids or not in my case. I I have been informed that my pelvic floor

[00:48:38] Needs to grow and strength

[00:48:41] Uh

[00:48:43] That that is pretty reminiscent of my entire body at this point, so

[00:48:50] Given how sore I was after pickleball

[00:48:53] It's just one of many things that I need to work on

[00:48:57] The carnivore diet. I loved it did a lot for me, but I have

[00:49:02] been so

[00:49:05] Blasphemous outside of that. I've even accepted gluten

[00:49:10] This past trip. I just I mean I didn't eat badly, but I didn't eat

[00:49:15] Restricted when it came to any kind of diet

[00:49:20] So

[00:49:22] It's a

[00:49:24] It's definitely shown everybody I feel very bloated and

[00:49:29] Very out of shape

[00:49:33] But you know, hopefully

[00:49:36] Hopefully God will bless me with more time to turn that ship around

[00:49:41] anyway

[00:49:44] What I was getting at it was

[00:49:47] It's hard to have boundaries when it comes to these small businesses and

[00:49:55] It's it's hard to

[00:49:58] And it would be hard for me, I think to create a place that was fully mine

[00:50:08] With really no intention of it being fully mine, but it ending up being that way and then

[00:50:16] knowing all the things that that happened along the way and

[00:50:20] I've experienced this with my family

[00:50:23] Now we had our business and we did so much for

[00:50:27] The people who worked for us and just no matter what man

[00:50:31] I

[00:50:34] Just stuff goes awry that you just don't ever think could and

[00:50:40] You can't

[00:50:42] Can't say that there was bad people involved necessarily. It's just that

[00:50:46] everybody's coming from different perspectives and different parts of their lives and

[00:50:51] It's just really hard

[00:50:55] Scares the shit out of me if I'm being honest

[00:50:58] It really scares the crap out of me, you know, I've been tossing around the idea of opening up my own shop Riko's

[00:51:05] Pretty convinced that we could do it. I'm not saying that we couldn't I just

[00:51:11] It scares me man

[00:51:13] it scares me to

[00:51:17] have that kind of

[00:51:20] place and

[00:51:23] I

[00:51:24] Mean I guess that stuff that's worth doing if it scares you

[00:51:30] Ultimately, I would love it if I was able to come together with my family and do something

[00:51:35] With all of us or at least kind of

[00:51:39] Vigorating that that family business kind of vibe and and start from there

[00:51:46] Tattooing is definitely the the a me thing that's definitely something that only I do and

[00:51:52] Nobody in my family wants a tattoo my dad

[00:51:57] My dad has a tattoo by me, but he doesn't want anymore. He just had me cover up an old one that he had so and

[00:52:04] Neither my niece or my nephews are really that interested my niece could be later on in life. I don't know

[00:52:12] But nobody else is

[00:52:14] There's been talk of little tattoos that may be my sister-in-law and her family might get together

[00:52:20] But nothing crazy, you know, not that you have to go crazy can have little tattoos

[00:52:25] But yeah, there's not there's not much interest in tattooing

[00:52:30] in my family in general and

[00:52:34] Like I said, whatever whatever I'm feeling I could relate a lot to Rick and karma

[00:52:41] In the place that he's at right now because it's very similar to what I'm feeling right now like

[00:52:48] Really foundational really family oriented and family first

[00:52:54] Really making sure that I'm growing from a place that feels very right and that I'm not

[00:53:03] Overly negotiating my expectations. I want to keep my expectations up

[00:53:10] And I want the people who come into my life

[00:53:15] to

[00:53:18] Meet those expectations and

[00:53:21] You know because I'm kind of tired of leveraging those things and I I know I'm not a person who

[00:53:31] Expects a lot from people. I expect a lot from myself

[00:53:37] From others. I feel like I give them a very

[00:53:41] even keeled

[00:53:43] Beasts and I can understand, you know when things happen like I said about our Airbnb, you know

[00:53:51] It wasn't perfect, but it was fine. You know like stuff happened, but it was

[00:53:57] Stuff that would have happened

[00:54:00] Had we been there or not, you know, like

[00:54:03] you can't really

[00:54:06] Expect that, you know stuff doesn't go

[00:54:11] Arrive, you know life happens. I think Riko's home. So there's some background noise apologies

[00:54:18] But anyway getting back to karma. I had a wonderful time there

[00:54:23] I was able to tattoo Rick which was such an honor

[00:54:26] You know tattooing a tattoo artist that has been in the game for 30 years hearing his background

[00:54:32] meeting his family

[00:54:35] Eating the food recommendation. I mean I got to eat I got to eat tongue on

[00:54:42] old route 66 and

[00:54:46] Where was it? Let me make sure because I can look this up really quickly. I

[00:54:51] Was told by Rick that

[00:54:54] Once I ate here that I could I could officially say that I had been I

[00:55:00] Had been in Tulsa because anybody who

[00:55:04] Knows Tulsa knows this place and

[00:55:10] And they they praise it for the best tacos. It's a it's a reddit thread

[00:55:16] So if you if you've gone there

[00:55:20] You know, this is this is the place to go

[00:55:23] Where is it? Where is it? Where is it? Another place in Tulsa that we went to that was really cool upon recommendation for

[00:55:31] From Rick was the gathering place. There's shots of that on my

[00:55:37] on my

[00:55:41] Timeline on my actual tattoo page that you guys can check out. It was a beautiful park

[00:55:47] Super super nice. It was

[00:55:49] It was next to the hydro electric company and that that whole like taught Tulsa energy works

[00:55:56] But it was gorgeous. Some of it was under construction

[00:55:59] But just a gorgeous park great skate park. I

[00:56:04] Kind of want to I kind of want to tell Dave from goldfang about it because it was so epic

[00:56:09] I got to let him know I'm gonna send him some videos and be like, hey, bro

[00:56:14] I don't know if there's anything like this in Oklahoma City, but Tulsa man. What's up?

[00:56:22] It was called the taco joint on Route 66 is called Don Francisco's

[00:56:28] And another great eats by in Tulsa. I have never in my life experience

[00:56:33] Was in the Indonesian food and it was at Rendang Rendang

[00:56:38] Indonesian Bishroh

[00:56:40] Rendang and company is Indonesian Bishroh and we went there because

[00:56:46] Rick had his friend in town

[00:56:50] from Bali and

[00:56:53] And he hadn't seen his friend Tim

[00:56:56] For a couple years if not more

[00:57:00] Because Tim had had a stroke and was recovering and you know, he was now

[00:57:05] Recovered and back on the road, but just trying to pick things up and he's an incredible

[00:57:11] Salesman and he sells gorgeous jewelry that they make there in Bali and

[00:57:17] Masks and carved skulls. I mean I

[00:57:21] Took some pictures, but you know, I thought I was gonna be able to videotape the whole thing and realize very quickly that

[00:57:27] I did not I did not have enough battery on my phone to record everything that was going on

[00:57:34] in fact, I left like really late at night

[00:57:38] hoping that I would

[00:57:40] be able to feed my father and I with Jersey Mike subs, but then our our

[00:57:46] What do you call them?

[00:57:50] The delivery person. I forget what company it was

[00:57:54] But he didn't he didn't deliver our subs so they refunded me

[00:57:58] But we couldn't eat so had to make shift make something really quickly at night. So that was not fun

[00:58:05] but yeah, I

[00:58:07] Had to keep I had to stay around because Tim was so cool and so rare and he was selling things that you would never find and of

[00:58:14] course

[00:58:15] Every piece of jewelry that I loved

[00:58:17] Was kind of going like he wasn't gonna sell them anymore

[00:58:21] So it was like oh my god

[00:58:22] I gotta get I gotta get this piece because they're not gonna sell it anymore and it's so unique and so cool. So

[00:58:28] on top of boots, I bought jewelry

[00:58:32] And I bought you know, like I bought more things for myself

[00:58:37] Honestly than I did anybody and that's kind of sad to admit especially going into Mother's Day

[00:58:44] God help me

[00:58:46] but I made I made the most of my trip and

[00:58:52] Let's see. Let's see what else

[00:58:55] Rendang was so good

[00:58:57] The food I love Indonesian food. It's like a great combination of

[00:59:03] Chinese Thai

[00:59:05] Indian almost like it just kind of has

[00:59:09] Kind of all things and it has like a Korean

[00:59:12] You know Asian, but it's like all things and you eat with your hands that made it extra special

[00:59:20] On top of tattooing Rick. I also tattooed his daughter Sarah

[00:59:25] She allowed me to do a

[00:59:29] Flash piece that I think I designed in 2004

[00:59:33] So I the flash piece was almost as

[00:59:39] Old as she was

[00:59:41] Signed it back then so it's it's 20 year old flash and

[00:59:47] She's 21 and it has a skull

[00:59:50] So it was very cool because both her father and her both got a skull

[00:59:55] But it was like a death head moth that I kind of muted muted into a skull a little bit more than usual

[01:00:01] And that was really cool to do a flash design that I hadn't done before on someone and

[01:00:08] Not only that but do something to both

[01:00:11] You know a third year old a third or you old tattoo artist and his daughter

[01:00:15] I mean what an epic thing and then I got to do a dragon on Bonnie Bonnie Sue and

[01:00:23] She she just saw I was in the area. She had just gotten back from Thailand with her husband and

[01:00:29] She had wanted this dragon that she had seen it

[01:00:35] Was tile work from the Ming dynasty Chinese

[01:00:39] And she just loved it and her Chinese zodiac is a dragon and

[01:00:44] She always wanted it and

[01:00:46] She'd been wanting it for like two years

[01:00:48] And then she saw my work and she saw where I was and she saw that I was in town at that moment

[01:00:53] And she just reached out and it just all kind of worked out all at once and it was super cool

[01:01:00] So I you know, I got this hat to

[01:01:03] somebody in Tulsa man

[01:01:05] Rick was advertising the crap out of me for Tulsa

[01:01:09] I

[01:01:10] Think it was a little worried that I wouldn't be busy

[01:01:13] But I wasn't worried about that at all if nothing else

[01:01:16] I would have hung out with him and like I said tattooing him and his family was pretty special and meeting his family was really special and

[01:01:24] Meeting his friend Tim from Bali of all places and then Tim's son

[01:01:32] G G Rayi

[01:01:34] I

[01:01:36] It was just epic. It was just epic. I would have I mean I

[01:01:40] Caught somebody that isn't in town

[01:01:43] frequently and hadn't been in town for years and and I was just in this really beautiful bubble of

[01:01:50] time

[01:01:52] To experience everybody and then on top of that

[01:01:56] My dad was with me and I think for my time in Tulsa especially

[01:02:01] my dad

[01:02:02] was very cool to have around because

[01:02:06] You know having my dad be there and he was my first mentor

[01:02:10] He taught me hair and we had kind of been in a family business. I think it was really cool

[01:02:16] for him and Rick to kind of

[01:02:18] relate to each other and trade dad jokes and dirty jokes and a whole bunch of different stuff and

[01:02:26] You know kind of knock around

[01:02:29] some thoughts and feelings and

[01:02:31] Stories together was super cool. It was much cooler than I would have given on my own and I really feel like

[01:02:40] Having my dad there as someone you know as an extension of me

[01:02:46] Was very special because it was able to share more about the intimacy of my life

[01:02:53] with Rick because he was giving so much to me and

[01:02:56] Both him and his wife Angela gave me so much. I mean

[01:03:02] I mean on top of the skin and you know access to his family

[01:03:08] Just the information the the banter it was all so great

[01:03:14] So in short

[01:03:17] diary listeners

[01:03:19] Highly recommend road trips highly recommend spending as much time

[01:03:25] as

[01:03:26] Possible as you are given

[01:03:28] to spend with your family

[01:03:31] Don't be a brat like me and

[01:03:34] resent bringing your father

[01:03:37] Embrace it and love it and make the most out of it take lots of pictures. I'm I

[01:03:44] Wish I would have taken more but I'm happy for the ones I took

[01:03:51] Play investigate eat

[01:03:56] Listen all those things

[01:04:00] It's a great education to go and visit another studio both in who you are as a person

[01:04:09] Travel

[01:04:11] Life in general

[01:04:13] But also you learn a lot about tattooing or whatever craft you're interested in and it's it's very cool

[01:04:21] So if you haven't done it yet as a tattoo artist and I'd say if you're

[01:04:26] three years in I

[01:04:28] Mean my friend Nicole like I mentioned her she did it. I think a year and a half two years into her her tattoo career

[01:04:36] Do it, you know, like I don't hold back

[01:04:39] There's no reason to

[01:04:41] Give yourself some time

[01:04:43] Thoroughly planned it out as best you can and then leave moments for

[01:04:48] really happy little

[01:04:50] Moments and surprises because that makes it the best

[01:04:54] You know you plan enough and then you leave some whimsy about it and I can honestly say that that

[01:05:01] That's exactly what this was. It was the perfect amount of planned

[01:05:05] Stuff and the perfect amount of whimsy

[01:05:07] I

[01:05:08] Got to spend time with my dad

[01:05:11] It's just so cool

[01:05:13] I'm so

[01:05:15] overwhelmed by how

[01:05:18] Awesome my dad is and

[01:05:22] Yeah diary listeners

[01:05:25] Thank you for listening to this week's podcast. I know it was kind of a long one

[01:05:31] It was two weeks that I had to wrap up and I'm sure I've left out a bunch

[01:05:36] pardon the interruptions

[01:05:38] My eating sounds in the beginning, but I had I had I had to once I once I picked out a pickle for a snack

[01:05:48] That kind of tied into pickleball. I just found it was uh, it's too good. It was too good not to include

[01:05:55] plus it just adds to that

[01:05:58] Fun surprise and you know just like I did my lip smacking and my little raw

[01:06:04] things that happen. I don't know why but I'm finding that

[01:06:08] My breath is a little

[01:06:11] Straightened this time. I feel like I'm taking a lot of deep breaths. I

[01:06:15] Don't know but anyway

[01:06:21] I got to go listeners. I have a day. I have designs. It's full bore into next things

[01:06:27] I have to get back to people I

[01:06:30] Have more things to do while I was doing this with you couple people hit me up on text messages

[01:06:36] It's just it's constant

[01:06:39] Roll with it

[01:06:40] Live your life. Thank you for listening to mine for a little bit

[01:06:44] It was a it was an awesome awesome trip that I'm really happy that I got to report about and that

[01:06:51] It was just wonderful. So
