[00:00:00] Hello and happy Tuesday, Diary listeners. I wanted to do a personal entry, mostly because I don't have, well, I do have a recording that I hope to share later.
[00:00:17] But this is now early December and I wanted to do a personal entry to just touch base with all of you.
[00:00:27] I am calling this personal entry Full Ass.
[00:00:34] Welcome to The Apprenticeship Diaries, where raw meets refined.
[00:00:38] Let's be real, we're still working on refined.
[00:00:40] What it took, what it takes, and the stories that are made.
[00:00:44] Join us as we learn from professionals about how their stories begin.
[00:00:53] In the immortal words of Ron Swanson, never half-ass anything, only full ass.
[00:01:04] So, that's kind of the premise this week and for this month.
[00:01:12] I, I'm not sure, guys, because I might, I don't know, I'm thinking, I'm thinking a lot of things.
[00:01:20] I'm reminded of a lot of things that I have gotten into over the past year or that I have picked up and then put down again.
[00:01:28] Not intentionally, but just simply because the stick-to-it-ness wasn't there.
[00:01:40] Calligraphy, wood carving, things like that.
[00:01:44] They're all still pursuits that I want to continue.
[00:01:51] This season, holiday season, for us Christians, it's Advent, the first Advent of Christ when He came and was flesh and sacrificed for our sins.
[00:02:12] So, this, this is the celebration of His birth.
[00:02:21] And ever since I started my walk with Christ, it has, this time of year has meant something, sorry everybody, this time of year has meant something a lot different.
[00:02:34] Uh, it's, it finally has meaning.
[00:02:37] I never really liked Christmas before.
[00:02:40] I've done, um, specials that were kind of bah humby, buggy and, uh, explored.
[00:02:54] Sorry, my cat's making noise down there.
[00:02:56] I explored, uh, a more cynical angle.
[00:03:04] I just, I never really liked it.
[00:03:07] Massey, I'm, I'm telling you right now, no.
[00:03:11] Um, sorry guys.
[00:03:14] I swear, my, my, my animals have just the, they haven't, they haven't been near me all day.
[00:03:21] And then, seriously, as soon as I go to record something, it's like, oh, let's, let's go talk to mom.
[00:03:29] Let's bug her.
[00:03:32] Um, where was I?
[00:03:35] So, yeah, um, Christmas now means something to me.
[00:03:39] Um, I've been having the most crazy conversations with other Christians.
[00:03:52] And one of the big things is holidays.
[00:03:58] And just the, I'm not sure how I feel guys, but I know now that I really do enjoy, uh, this time of year, uh, the festivities.
[00:04:12] And I haven't changed anything about how I really move or do anything.
[00:04:18] Our family traditions are pretty established.
[00:04:21] Established my niece and nephews.
[00:04:23] They're, they're getting older.
[00:04:25] My, my nephews are in their teens.
[00:04:28] So, like, we've been, we've been doing the same thing.
[00:04:31] In my home, there's, there's no tree.
[00:04:35] Um, Rico and I, we just put up a stream of lights.
[00:04:39] And that's, and that's really all I've ever liked about Christmas was lights.
[00:04:45] And, uh, just, just the, the cheeriness as you, you know, you drive home at night and you kind of are reminded that like, oh, you know, this is a, this is a beautiful time.
[00:05:03] And to be reflective.
[00:05:10] So, I started out by saying, and I don't really want this to go on very long.
[00:05:15] I'll give you guys a break because, uh, I do have some painting that I want to get to.
[00:05:22] Um, there is a couple gifts that I want to make sure I get done for people for Christmas.
[00:05:29] And then, uh, also I have a series that I'm really excited about doing that I'd like to dedicate myself to.
[00:05:39] Uh, so I, I'm not, I'm not making this one long.
[00:05:42] Uh, and I'm hoping that it'll be appreciated by everybody that I don't belabor anything so that we can all full ass our, our December going into 2025, the new year.
[00:05:58] And, uh, making, making new commitments.
[00:06:01] Um, I'd like to recommit to a lot of the things that I have let fall off.
[00:06:11] The woodworking, the calligraphy.
[00:06:15] I want to get back into painting again.
[00:06:18] Um, I miss, I miss the, I miss the mark making, honestly.
[00:06:26] I've been working so much on an iPad and, and quite frankly, guys, I think I'm to the point where I need readers.
[00:06:33] Um, it's the screens, uh, all these screens that I look at all the time.
[00:06:39] They're really, they're just so bad on your eyes.
[00:06:42] And I, I'm noticing that I haven't gotten my readers yet, but, uh, I am noticing a lot more fatigue in my eyes.
[00:06:52] And I don't have that as much when I'm painting.
[00:06:56] Um, because, you know, you're not, you're not constantly looking at something that has this light behind it.
[00:07:04] So I really, I really want to get back to that and I miss it.
[00:07:10] And, um, it was kind of reinvigorated at Paradise.
[00:07:14] I really love sitting down and just, just painting that, that deer that I painted.
[00:07:21] And it felt really good.
[00:07:23] So I liked it.
[00:07:26] Um, it's probably the place that I feel the most, um, I don't know, connection with my gifts and with God.
[00:07:38] Uh, I, as far as the podcast, uh, I had been saying, I've been saying for a while that I wanted to turn the direction of it.
[00:07:50] And I think the new year will be a commitment to that.
[00:07:54] I'm trying to get a lot of habits in the works.
[00:07:58] I was last year.
[00:07:59] I started out with that meat only diet that I only did for like, not even a month before I cracked.
[00:08:05] And quite frankly, I'm not better off now than I was then.
[00:08:10] Um, I did, I did learn.
[00:08:13] I'm going to sneeze.
[00:08:15] I'm going to sneeze guys.
[00:08:16] Sorry.
[00:08:17] Um, I'm not better off now than I was then, though.
[00:08:23] I have learned that the diet is really nice.
[00:08:26] I really like it.
[00:08:27] Um, I just have to, I think, be a lot more disciplined in all avenues.
[00:08:36] Um, lately I've just seen a lot of my own deficits and I'm really trying to reclaim something that,
[00:08:51] I feel like I've lost, which was this just like, I had the ability to put blinders on before.
[00:08:59] There's a lot of noise in my life and I've allowed a lot of noise in my life.
[00:09:07] So the podcast, I want to, I want to redo it.
[00:09:13] Um, I want to redo the merch in a lot of ways.
[00:09:21] It's not that I'm going to get rid of the old.
[00:09:22] I'm just going to make it a, a dated, uh, facet of the podcast.
[00:09:28] And I want to create new merch.
[00:09:32] And I might take the month of December, the rest of this month to do that.
[00:09:38] Just kind of give you guys, you know, insights as to how that's going as the month progresses.
[00:09:44] And also give myself a bit of a break to digest all of this that I want to do.
[00:09:52] I'm finding that rest is a lot more necessary than, um, I want it to be.
[00:10:00] Uh, I have to take some of the advice that I've given others and accept that the rest is sometimes part of the work.
[00:10:10] Make better choices and diet, exercise, all that good stuff.
[00:10:15] But also, um, I want to be in the word a lot more and get through the Bible completely.
[00:10:27] And I don't know, I, I really want this, I think, to move into more, maybe for a year, a personal diary.
[00:10:35] I had imagined it not being that way, but I'm really feeling pulled to it.
[00:10:46] And I am very hungry for, like the, like the only place that I really look forward to being at is at church.
[00:10:59] And, uh, I like painting and I like drawing.
[00:11:09] I like being around artists in general, but only when we're making art.
[00:11:14] And, um, I don't really, I don't really want to do much else.
[00:11:20] It's not that I don't mind.
[00:11:21] I, I, I, I like tattooing still.
[00:11:23] That's always consistent, you know, cause it's a, it's a communal space.
[00:11:27] It's a space that I, you know, share with people.
[00:11:33] And, uh, it, it allows me to step outside of this long enough to get perspective.
[00:11:42] So I do enjoy, I do enjoy tattooing a lot, but I, uh, I want to do more than that.
[00:11:52] And it's really hard.
[00:11:54] The other thing that's happening and I, um, I feel confident about sharing with you guys is that in the new year, I'm taking some classes.
[00:12:03] Uh, I want to get organized with my finances and things like that.
[00:12:08] But, um, yeah, on the, on the whole, uh, get some, what do you call it?
[00:12:17] Um, entry level courses under my belt for accounting.
[00:12:25] I feel like it will be very nice to study something that is concrete and that has a system and has order and deals predominantly with numbers.
[00:12:46] Man, I did it again.
[00:12:48] My, uh, my microphone is acting weird.
[00:12:55] I don't know how the past few bits of audio were recorded.
[00:13:01] Hopefully it was all right, but it looks like it was low.
[00:13:06] I don't know.
[00:13:07] It looks like it might not have had my Yeti microphone attached.
[00:13:13] But my, my cords have been weird, guys.
[00:13:17] So I apologize.
[00:13:18] I know this really doesn't make a case for full ass.
[00:13:21] It's more an announcement.
[00:13:22] I don't know how much this is a full ass recording.
[00:13:26] It's just a full ass announcement of full assness and kind of putting myself fully into a lot of things.
[00:13:35] Yeah, I think the last, I'm looking at the recording and I think the last recording was with the, uh, the speakers on the, on the computer.
[00:13:43] Bummer.
[00:13:45] Bummer.
[00:13:46] Oh, well, I mean, I guess it is what it is.
[00:13:49] Um, all right, everybody.
[00:13:53] I know this is probably the shortest podcast that I have ever recorded, but, um, it's 444 on Tuesday.
[00:14:05] And, uh, I got a lot of stuff to do.
[00:14:08] So I'm going to get back to it and let you guys have a wonderful rest of the day.
[00:14:12] Go and full ass your life.
[00:14:15] Uh, I love you.
[00:14:16] God bless each of you.
[00:14:18] I hope you have a mound of things that you're trying to invoke in your life and make awesome, make better.
[00:14:26] God bless you all.
[00:14:28] And, um, I'm grateful.
[00:14:31] Have a powerful week.
[00:14:33] And I'll, I'll catch you guys next week.
[00:14:35] If it isn't a personal podcast, then it will be a, uh, it'll be something I have stored up for you guys.
[00:14:43] All right.
[00:14:45] Later.
[00:14:51] Thanks for listening.
